Local Flavors Introduced Within the Scope of the Communication and Design Festival

At the event held at the Alanya Culinary Heritage Center, located in the Alanya Kaleiçi region and owned by the Alanya Municipality, students received information about the region's history and culinary culture. Prof. Dr. Y. Birol Saygı, Professor of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Durdu Öner, Chair of the Department of Communication and Design Assistant Professor Dr. Evrim Nacar, Lecturer Miray Ürkmezer, and a group of students from the Department of Communication and Design at Alanya University were taught how to make the local delicacy S cake. The story and preparation stages of the S cake were explained in detail. Known as a flavor that reminds people of Alanya, the S cake symbolizes the Mediterranean with its shape resembling the waves of the sea.

Introduction to Alanya's Culinary Culture

Lecturer Miray Ürkmezer provided information about the gastronomy event held to introduce Alanya's cuisine and dishes. Thanking the Alanya Municipality for their contribution, Ürkmezer said, "We thank the Alanya Municipality for hosting our students in a historical Alanya house and providing information about the culinary culture. With this project, our aim was not only to provide tangible memories but also to leave a lasting impression of this taste, smell, and beautiful day in our students' memories. Our students received information for the promotion of the product, conducted shootings, and had the chance to demonstrate their knowledge in areas such as promotion, design, news writing, collecting visual and written data, and conducting interviews, all specific to this product intertwined with Alanya. We hope that the experiences they gained will contribute to the promotion of our culture and we aim to continue sharing our values with our students in future projects."

Alanya's Rich Culinary Culture

Sevda Çapa, Director of Environmental Protection and Control at the Alanya Municipality, stated that the municipality attaches great importance to the preservation and transmission of cultural values, emphasizing that food is an indispensable part of culture. Expressing her views on Alanya's culinary culture, Çapa highlighted the importance of passing on this culture to students. The event, which attracted great interest from Alanya University students, concluded with refreshments.
