The opening ceremony of the event, held as part of the Alanya University Communication and Design Festival, was attended by Alanya District Governor Fatih Ürkmezer, Alanya Mayor Osman Tarık Özçelik, Alanya University Rector Prof. Dr. Mesut Güner, Alanya District Director of National Education Yusuf Yılmaz, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design at Alanya University Prof. Dr. Birol Saygı, Assistant Professor Erdem Demir, Assistant Professor Evrim Nacar, Assistant Professor Burçin Ünal, Assistant Professor Cem Hakverdi, Lecturer Dr. Beyza Sargın, Lecturer Miray Ürkmezer, Research Assistant Bilal Tanrıkulu, and Sibel Güvener, Member of the ALTSO Women Entrepreneurs Board.

THE POWER OF COMMUNICATION AND DESIGN CAME TOGETHER

Assist. Prof. Dr. Burçin Ünal, Faculty Member of the Faculty of Arts and Design at Alanya University, shared in the excitement of the 'April 23rd National Sovereignty and Children's Day' in his opening speech. Expressing delight at bringing together the power of communication and design, Dr. Burçin Ünal provided information about the wall design works of the Faculty of Arts and Design students. In his speech, Dr. Ünal said, "As the Department of Communication and Design at Alanya University, we are delighted to come together with you in this special event, where we celebrate 'April 23rd National Sovereignty and Children's Day' by bringing together the power of communication and design." Dr. Ünal continued his speech as follows: “In the ideation phase for the wall design, we wanted to reverse the function of the walls. As you know, walls divide and separate spaces. However, by coloring these walls and designing them in a way that conveys a message from university students to children, we wanted to emphasize the unifying power of communication and design. Our students from the Communication and Design and Social Media Digital Communication master's programs realized a design that emphasizes the importance of education and science by saying that books take us to space. Here, I would like to express my gratitude once again to the Alanya Governorate, Alanya Municipality, District Directorate of National Education, and Alanya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, especially to our esteemed Rector, who played a major role in bringing this project to life. I applaud our students who worked tirelessly for days with all my heart. Finally, while presenting this gift to the children, I would like to convey a message from Alanya University: Push the boundaries of your imagination, express your creativity at every opportunity, and continue to add color to the world.”

"ACADEMICS AND INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS WORKED HARD"

Before the opening ceremony, Alanya University Rector Prof. Dr. Mesut Güner made important remarks. Prof. Güner stated that April 27th is recognized as a design day worldwide and emphasized that this day creates important awareness about design. Pointing out the Communication and Design department's desire to spend this week filled with events, Rector Güner said: “The Communication and Design department aimed not only to celebrate April 27th but also to fill this week with various events. Today's event has two important aspects: First, April 23rd National Sovereignty and Children's Day, and second, the event we organized. By combining these two special days, we aimed to convey the message that science, technology, and books will support sustainability and future technologies. We particularly wanted to increase the interest of primary school students in science and technology and demonstrate where reading books can lead our country. Many of our academics and local and international students actively participated in this event. We also made efforts to provide all the support we could. We aimed to contribute greatly to future generations.”
